Whats wrong with this momma?

I don't think our paperwork was submitted again today! Our dossier has been there two weeks now and still nothing. I'm frustrated! Why am I frustrated? I should be thankful that my paperwork is done. I should be thankful that I'm so close to bringing my baby girl home. So why am I frustrated about stuff that's out of my control?
I can't talk for other adoptive parents, but I'm totally irrational right now! I'm crying because all my cute summer clothes that I bought she won't get to wear! I'm crying because we won't be home to celebrate her first birthday, when I started this process I was sure we'd be home by then! I'm crying because I HATE snow, and I don't want to dress her in winter stuff, I want to dress her in summer stuff. And because you can't put cute bows in their hair under a beanie because its freezing outside! I'm wishing we were already in California so I wouldn't have to deal with snow. All of this stuff is so stupid! Whose the stupid mom that bought a bunch of summer stuff when she didn't know when her girl would be home!
I'm telling you, I'm one irrational momma right now!!

  1. Oh Lacey, you are not irrational at all. I can't imagine the waiting. When we are pg we have that crazy anticipation planning the 9 months but know somewhere around 9 months our baby will be here.
But, with adoption it is totally out of our hands and God's timing. I know he specifically chose you guys for Makayla and he has his perfect timing as to when you will pick her up.
Try not to worry, she will look beautiful in whatever you have for her and she will be blessed to have her forever family.

    Hugs to you friend!

  2. I think it's probably totally normal! When you are pregnant and waiting for your due date, you get anxious and emotional and all the things you described! If it's too cold for the summer things when she gets here, then eBay them for clothes for next summer. :)

  3. You are so not irrational, Lacey! You are a mom, about to bring your baby girl home:) When a momma bear talks about her baby cubs, there are ALWAYS hormones involved...lol!! Who knows, she may just fit in those clothes next summer!! Landon is still wearing 6-9 month shorts and he is 17 months old!!! You will be fine!!!

  4. I can't imagine the emotions this process brings (maybe someday!), so all I can offer you is lots of virtual hugs!

  5. Oh Lacey, stop beating yourself up! You want to see your baby, you should be upset. Maybe you can just keep your house warm and she can still wear all the cute clothes you bought, but just stay inside...maybe...

  7. Oh Lacey you're not irrational at all, it's just the impatience of being with your daughter that has you all worked up. I can just about imagine what you're going through, it's like it's all so close but yet so far, very frustrating. I must agree with Kelly for all you know she will be able to wear the same closes next summer, Saira still has clothes 6-12 months that she wears and she's 2!!! So I wouldn't worry too much about all that and the clips, well by then her hair will be evn longer and the clips will look ever so cute on her.

Cheer up and stay positive, it's all going to work out just fine!

  8. Lacey... I am right there with ya. All that hurry hurry hurry, FedEx overnight, just to have your dossier sit (as ours is too)... frustrating!!! And all my fantasies about being home by the end of August have come crashing down around me. I know now that I will miss my son's first day of pre-k, my other son will start 2nd grade without me... And yes, all those adorable summer outfits that are neatly folded and waiting for warm little bodies to fill them will be repacked away.

    But really I think the main thing is that by now we are like ten months pregnant... you know? {{{hugs}}}

  9. Lacey - you are not irrational, you have every right to be feeling this way! also - i am with kelly... makayla might be able to wear some of the cute girly summer stuff next summer just as well if not better than she might have this summer. whitney is 23 months old and she still is wearing some 6-12 month and some 12-18 month summer clothes that anne could only wear when she was in the official 12-18 month age range. is there anyone you can speak with about why your dossier still has not been sent??? thinking of you!!!!!!

  10. one more thing - cute summer dresses for little girls can sometimes become cute "tunics" with leggings when they get a little taller :)

  11. Lacey, know that you are not alone. I thought I was the only person experiencing those same exact thoughts. I heard on the forum that the government offices were closed for the first two weeks in July. Yep, no dossier's being accepted (I don't even want to think of the back-up). Alyona's birthday is the beginning of September and I really wanted her to be home for her fourth birthday. We have a closet full of sundresses for Alyona to wear that will have to wait for next summer (if they even fit, it's weird not having any idea what size she is). We don't even own clothes or jackets for snow (we live in So. California and we live in shorts and flip-flops). I'm sure all of this doesn't make you feel any better, but know that you are not alone. Whatever frustrations you are having, I am having them too.

  12. I could tell you stories about being the adoptive mom and waiting to bring my baby home!!! Once we got word from a nurse that birth grandma was wanting to keep Lily this was half way through her hospital stay when I was up there daily (all day long) bonding with her.
It was a misunderstanding but boy I was a very upset mama!!!
I went shopping for Makayla with my client the other day. He thought we needed to get everything on the list and kept throwing things in the cart. I had to explain to him what a register was for and that we needed to leave some items for other people to by! Too much fun.
I will bring them over ASAP! Moving can really interupt your life :-(.

  13. Oh Lacey, this post only reaffirms the AMAZING Mommy you are going to be to this little chickie!
You are not 'stupid', just excited beyond words!
There will be years of summer clothes, years of birthday parties and how lucky Mckayla is to have a new Mommy that can't wait to do those things for her, she is surely blessed, as are you.
Keep your faith, she's on her way soon!

  14. Lacey, Are you breathing or hyper- ventilating???

You are one of the most incredible people I know. Your dumpling is coming. And I know this is much easier for me to say than for you to hear but you are going to have countless summers and birthdays with her. She is yours forever. And I for one cannot wait to prove you wrong on the winter clothes. and who knows if you can't use the summer clothes that you have, God may have another plan for them. Maybe there is a dumpling you don't even know yet that will benefit from them one day.

It's all going to be wonderful !!!

    Love and hugs!!

  15. Lacey, I meant to ask you... did you send your dossier ahead in pdf format to have it translated? If not, that is what is probably taking so long... having it translated. Ours is ready to go, so I am hoping for tomorrow :-)
